SPECIAL PROJECT
ZARIM CHAMBER TRIO ( 2018 - 2019 )
Rhythmic Travel on 19th and 20th Century Music
A Polyrhythmic & Polymetric Research for Guitar Duo and Oriental
Zarim is the chamber trio formed by the Duo Imbesi Zangarà and M° Giorgio Rizzo, Official Endorser and Ambassador for Wambooka performance techniques.
Rhythmic Travel on 19th and 20th Century Music is a research project exploring the rhythmic possibilities of chamber music through meter, accentuation, polyrhythm and polymeter, bringing together classical guitar and oriental percussion.
The research focuses on expanding the role of percussion from accompaniment to a concertante and expressive voice, interacting with the guitars through rhythmic, melodic and timbral elements.
A central part of the project is the Wambooka, an innovative conception of darbuka that expands the instrument’s sonic possibilities, including Water Sounds and new performance techniques.
The project was developed with the support of the Wambooka creator and his team, creating a direct connection between artistic research, instrumental innovation and performance practice.

Sulle Note Della Bellezza - Reading e Musica Sull' Esperienza Estetica ( 2024 - )
SULLE NOTE DELLA BELLEZZA
Reading e Musica sull’Esperienza Estetica — Ideato e diretto da Carmelo Imbesi e Carmen Zangarà
IT — Original text
A reading and live-music journey through the aesthetic experience of Beauty and the Sublime, from the 19th century to today.
Free adaptation of Richard Bach’s novel “Jonathan Livingston Seagull” — Italy, 2017/2018
IT — Original text
IT — Original text
A choral project of Mediterranean music, staged 2017.
Me e Mr.G 2.0 – “Non è il Classico Gaber” ( 2016 - 2017 )
ME E MR. G 2.0 — “NON È IL CLASSICO GABER”
Omaggio al Teatro Canzone — Regia di Ivan Bertolami
IT — Original text
A tribute to Giorgio Gaber’s “Teatro Canzone”, staged 2016/2017.
— G. Gaber
Novecento ( 2014 -2015 )
NOVECENTO
Dal capolavoro di Alessandro Baricco — Regia di Ivan Bertolami
IT — Original text
Free adaptation of Alessandro Baricco’s “Novecento” — a solo narrative with live original music, staged 2014/2015.
— A. Baricco, Novecento

ME E MR. G — “NON È IL CLASSICO GABER”

A tribute to Giorgio Gaber’s “Teatro Canzone”, staged 2012/2014
— G. Gaber
Carmen Zangarà’s artistic identity lives in the space between two worlds: the rigor of her classical training and the expressive freedom of contemporary pop.
It’s in that encounter that her voice finds its own language — deeply personal, instinctive, unmistakably hers.
An internationally acclaimed classical guitarist and the backbone of Duo Imbesi Zangarà, Carmen unlocks through singing a passion she has carried since childhood.
Her voice bridges soul sensibility with the great Italian vocal tradition, digging past technique into the meaning of every word — a magnetic, sincere timbre that gives shape to pure emotion.
The new tour, Voices in Blue, was born as a tribute to the queens of pop and soul — Whitney Houston, Lady Gaga, Alicia Keys, Aretha Franklin, Céline Dion, Adele, Mina, Amy Winehouse — reimagined through Carmen’s own interpretive lens.
Alongside these iconic voices, the project reveals a more intimate side: original songs written by Carmen and the band, and Italian classics reborn with a contemporary touch. In 2026 this evolution reaches its natural milestone — Carmen’s official debut as a singer-songwriter, in collaboration with Cosmophonix — not a departure from her musical journey, but its completion.
On stage, Carmen is joined by The Blue Mood: Carmelo Imbesi (guitars), Giulio Decembrini (piano), Andrea Guarnera (synth & keyboards), Emanuel Raffa (drums), with Giulia De Domenico, Viviana Romeo and Elisabetta Gugliandolo on backing vocals.
Each musician brings solid academic training shaped by strikingly different sonic paths — jazz, soul, progressive, noise rock, pop, musical theatre — converging into a sound where technical precision meets a modern, eclectic sensibility, moving naturally between intimate acoustic moments and sweeping pop-soul arrangements.
